About Dr. Benny Lin
Benny Lin is a California and New York licensed acupuncturist, an NCCAOM
Diplomate in Acupuncture, and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (D.O.M.) with over
thirty years of professional experience as a practitioner and educator of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China and the United States.
Education and Training:
Benny Lin graduated from Guangxi TCM University, and subsequently completed his
postgraduate studies at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology of China
Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He later obtained his doctorate at
South Baylo University in the US. In addition to his academic education, Dr.
Lin apprenticed under various renowned specialists and scholars, such as Kong
Bohua, who is widely recognized as one of the four highest ranking TCM masters
in modern China.
a practitioner, Dr. Benny Lin worked for over ten years as a physician and
chief clinician at hospitals affiliated with TCM universities in China. Since
immigrating to the US, he
has worked for twenty years as an acupuncturist, herbalist, and Tui-na
specialist, establishing private clinics in New York City, Orange County, Torrance,
Santa Monica and Los Angeles. Combining his profound theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise
in TCM, Dr. Lin has developed unique treatment protocols for general health
issues, as well as rare and complicated diseases, by artfully combining all major TCM treatment methods including acupuncture, Tui-na and herbs. In order to create a
personalized and comprehensive plan that addresses both the symptoms and the root
of the disease, Dr. Lin goes beyond traditional evaluation methods and takes
into account a patient’s living environment, constitution, state of mind, and
seasonal changes that can affect his or her health. Dr. Lin's strongest fields of specialties are orthopedics/pain-management, as well as internal and gynecological diseases.
an educator, Dr. Lin served as lecturer and assistant professor in China,
training over a thousand medical students. For the past two decades in the US,
Dr. Lin has been a popular
and much praised professor of courses such as TCM Classics, Acupuncture and
Tui-na Techniques in graduate programs at various TCM schools. Dr. Lin currently
teaches and supervises clinic interns at Emperor’s College of Traditional
Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, Yo San University of TCM in Los Angeles and South
Baylo University in Orange County.
In addition, Dr. Lin offers advanced seminars in continuing education in a wide
range of subjects including Formula Writing, Master Tong’s Points, Abdominal
Acupuncture, and External Application of Herbs. Many of Dr. Lin’s students have
established very successful TCM practices throughout the US.
As a pioneer in his field who integrates the best of
classical and modern TCM, Dr. Lin’s contributions to cutting edge TCM research
are represented by some of his publications, such as, “Spine-Related Diseases”, “Masters of TCM Series/Kong Bohua”, and his professional papers which won "First Prize Paper" for both the 8th and the 9th International Congress on Manipulative Medicine and Traditional Therapy.
Professional Positions and Affiliations:
As a professional regarded highly by his peers in the TCM communities worldwide, Dr. Lin also holds prominent positions
in many professional TCM associations. He is the Vice-Chairman of the World
Association of Manipulative Medicine; a noted member of the Chinese Academy of
Oriental Medicine; a member of the World Federation of Traditional Chinese
Orthopedics, Awards Referee of the 2nd
International Meeting on Manipulative Medicine, just to name a few.
